Customer Question

I have a Quantaray 28-300mm lense for Canon. The manual/auto focus switch is broken, came off and is lost. Any way to repair?

Hi, thank you for contacting My name is***** will do my best to provide the right answer to your question. Is anything else about the lens broken that you can tell? That is, did the switch break off without anything else breaking? The standard way to have it fixed, where fine optics and delicate high-quality miniaturized electronics is concerned, is to have it sent to the manufacturer's repair facility. For Quantaray lenses, that would be a place in New York state, where Sigma, the maker of Quantaray lenses, has its factory repair center. several other service centers, listed lower down on the page. Were you thinking of repairing it yourself? that is somewhat unlikely to have good results. Were you thinking it should be repaired locally? if so let me know your locale, please.

The lense was dropped several years ago, cracking thr switch. It would occasionally come off and could be put back on. With switch in place lense worked fine. Switch is now lost. Probably need factory help. Would consider local Dallas TX area. Sugestions?Thank you!!

There is no factory service center in Dallas. I think it's a matter of either shipping it off yourself, or paying a local middleman to ship it off for you, to Sigma, at a somewhat greater cost. But in Dallas... there are these camera repair shops, but none of them mention Quantaray lenses: Ask for an estimate on the repair when inquiring, of course.
