To restore your Canon EOS 7D Mark II to its factory settings, follow these steps:Put the Camera in Manual ModePress the [Menu] buttonScroll over to the third subsection of the third set of menu options.Scroll down to the “Clear all Camera Settings” option by using the quick control dialClick the [Set] button. Scroll over to the [OK] button and click [Set] button again.When the factory reset has been completed, pull out the batteryLook in the battery compartment, and you’ll see a little slider you can pull it.Behind this slider are the backup-battery hidden. Take this battery out for at least an hour, replace the backup-battery, and the “normal” battery.

Pete, this is not to do with the camera but rather with the RAW processing software on the computer. I uninstalled and re-installed but it still has the problem. I will call Canon on Monday.
Please do not charge me for this answer.

Ok, first though could you try using a different user account on the same computer and check if the software works there?

Also, note that DPP requires a huge amount of memory available to process RAW images - your computer may be running out of available RAM memory. You can check if this is the case by monitoring the computer's performance in Task Manager on a Windows computer.

No worries - it was working last week and I have 12 GB of RAM.
It is Canon's proprietary software and they just upgraded it. Seems that it probably has a bug in it. I will cal them on Monday.
Let's not waste any more time on this. I trust we agree that this was not resolved and I will be refunded.

I am a user of this site just like you, and I have no control over any payments, etc.If you have recently upgraded the software and it has caused these problems then I would suggest downgrading it again until they get the new software debugged.Pete.
