I have a Nikon Coolpix P500 and I cannot download the pictures

Customer Question

I have a Nikon Coolpix P500 and I cannot download the pictures from my camero to the computer. Looks like the computer doesn't see the camera is plug in
JA: Sometimes things that you think will be really complicated end up being easy to fix. The Camera Technician I'm going to connect you with knows all the tricks and shortcuts. Tell me a bit more about what's going on so he can help you best.
Customer: Well...nothing is going on. The camera is plug in to the computer. Ususally I have a window that opens and asked me with which program I want to open the new device...nothing is happening
JA: Anything else I can tell the Camera Technician before I connect you two?
Customer: Nothing...I never had this problem before. do I need a special software to download picture
JA: I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Camera Technician about your situation and connect you two.

Hello and thank you for your question. I look forward to assisting you today. Do you have the camera powered on when connecting it to the computer?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Yes but shortly after it's plugged in it stats's not on anymore

Okay, well you can remove the SD memory card and insert it directly into your computer provided it has a media port, and copy the photos directly. You may need a new USB cable for the camera?
