I have a k50 that is taking very unreadable dark pictures

Customer Question

I have a k50 that is taking very unreadable dark pictures when on auto setting. If I dial to sport mode and shot long bursts of pictures in the outdoor light than the camera operates just fine. but after I turn it off and let it sit it will return to the same dark format. I have returned all settings back to the cameras factory settings. The camera is less than a year old.

If a factory reset did not help, then the problem is likely mechanical.

It sounds as though the shutter is sticking.

This can sometimes occur if the camera is not used regularly.

In any case, it will need to be returned for servicing, which can be done under warranty as the camera is less than 1 year old.
