I have a Nikon S8000. It take perfect pictures except when you try to zoom in on something then everything blurs. What setting do I need to change?

Hello and thank you for your question, I look forward to assisting you today. After you zoom in, do you press the shutter button down half way to allow the camera to focus?

It will begin the focus process but then goes blurry. Works fine as long as zoom is not engaged.

Your camera will only have so many focus points when it is in auto mode so that could be part of the problem, particularly if you are holding it and not real steady. If this is a close up shot, make sure you are using your macro or close up mode if the camera has that option. Let me know if you have tried any of these suggestions and how you come out.
