I have a DCR-DVD301. When powered on, battery time, 103

Customer Question

I have a DCR-DVD301. When powered on, battery time, 103 minutes, for example is displayed on the LCD screen. When powered off, pressing the DISPLAY/BATT INFO button produces a blank, dark LCD screen. Please troubleshoot.

Hi, thank you for contacting My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.

If there is no battery power left, nothing will display.

If the battery pack is damaged, nothing will display.

If the battery pack is not installed correctly, nothing will display.

Even if the battery time left does not display instantly, you ought to see 'CALCULATING BATTERY INFO...' displayed, at least.

Is that not seen either? Then, does the camera turn On again when only on battery power?

If the camera turns On again, but nothing displays, make sure the DISPLAY/BATT INFO button is not dead, clogged with dirt, or otherwise non-functional. Try using it when power is On and the camera is running, and see if it works then.

How old is your Sony camera?

The first 3 sentences of your answer to my question are self evident and not relevant.Re: your 4th and 5th sentences, I told you in my original question that the camera will power on and display battery time when only on battery power. The camera is 10 year old, barely used, clean and dry. I removed the battery pack, left the camera overnight, reinstalled the battery pack and pressed the DISPLAY/BATT INFO button and it worked, showing 80%. I then removed the battery, reinstalled it and the button did not work. Does this model camera have a reset button? The battery and camera contacts are flawlessly clean and bright.
