Customer Question

My tg820 has functioned well, albeit with minimum use, over several years; but suddenly has a black monitor with only a few moving coloured lines at the very top. By using the shutter, then checking the card, I've determined that the thing still takes pictures..., but is rather useless with a dead monitor.
Yes, the battery is fully charged.
No, the zoom button moves freely. It's not stuck...
Reparable; or disposable?

Hi Robert,

Either the display has failed, or its cable has come loose.

If the display cable has become detached from the main board inside the camera then it can quite easily be attached again and restore the display to working order again. If you have some technical skills, the you could attempt to repair this yourself, otherwise a local electronics or camera repair tech will charge around $50 to look at it.
