I keep getting "unit in safeguard mode remove and reattach

Customer Question

I keep getting "unit in safeguard mode remove and reattach battery or DC plug" message. I have done both and the camcorder still will not record.

Hi and welcome to JustAnswer,

Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...

Initially, bear with us; re-confirm and post back with the complete model number of the camcorder.

JVC Digital Video Camera GR-D371U

Appreciate the additional information.

Even if "...will not record...", will it allow playback?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No it will not
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.

Has the JVC GR-D371U been in fairly constant use and this issue recent? ...or has the unit been in storage and upon trying, this is the result?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It has not been used in a while for recording video. I have also replaced the camcorder battery with a new one because I thought that would fix the problem.
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.

I understand.

Possibilities are an internal hardware concern such as an issue with a motor or dew sensor acting up.

Have you tried leaving the JVC in the cassette EJECT position to allow air to circulate freely? This is the only easy user doable try as all others would require dis-assembly.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have not tried that yet. I guess I will give that a try.
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.

Please post back results / observations of the above once tried.
