I'm getting a massage on my D3200 saying I have a metering

Hi, my name is ***** ***** it would be my pleasure to help with your issue today. The Nikon explanation for this error is that the sensor board is not longer communicating. First, try removing the batteries, memory card, lens, and any other accessories that may be removable from the camera and letting it sit for a few minutes. Then, re-install the batteries only and try powering it on. Can you access the camera menus? If you can, then try locking the mirror up for cleaning in the menus and then pressing the shutter to release it a few times to see if that gets the error cleared.

Hope this helps. Let me know if there's anything else that I can do to assist you.

Please rate my service excellent once our conversation is complete. If you don't feel I've provided excellent service, continue to respond and I'll do whatever is necessary to ensure you are satisfied with your service!!

Tried your suggestion and was able to get to the menu and cleaning but the same message pops up --

If you are still getting the same message then either your sensor board is no longer communicating or there is a loose connection on the sensor board. Either of these issues will require a trip to the shop to have repaired unless you are familiar with the breakdown of the camera to the chassis. You have a few options for repairs. I wouldn't recommend taking it to a local shop with an issue like this unless you have one that you know and trust that does in house repairs. Most likely what they would do is send it off to either Nikon or a 3rd party repair service anyway and charge you a mark up on the price when you could've sent it off yourself. I'm going to post a couple of links here for you. The first is for Nikon factory service. The second is for a third party repair service that I use that does great work. They've been in business for over 60 years and they are an authorized Nikon repair center. They should be a little cheaper than nikon on the cost of the repair and are much faster.
