My Canon Rebel T5i will not shoot photos and says Error #30

Customer Question

My Canon Rebel T5i will not shoot photos and says Error #30 on the monitor. I have tried removing the battery and shutting off the camera and it will not shoot. I tried putting on different lens and it will not shoot the photo.

Hello & Welcome to Just Answer,

Sorry to hear of any trouble you may be having.

The Error 30 is a "shutter stuck" code, and Canon has had some issues with this and MAY be able to repair it under warranty - assuming the camera is not too old.

BUT, you can often clear this error by doing a "Manual Sensor Cleaning", through the menu system.

NOTE: There are other methods to "unstick" the shutter mentioned out there (on the web), which involve "hitting" the camera, but I do NOT recommend that.

As a reference, I have a link to the electronic (PDF) version of the manual for this camera, and the instructions to do a manual cleaning of the sensors are on page 223 of that manual. Please give these steps at try (or two if needed), and let me know if that works for you.

If that works and this has answered your question(s), please take a moment to rate MY service level (Excellent is my goal) so that I get credit for helping you with this question.
You should see some "smiley faces" or "stars" to do that, but please let me know if you do NOT see them or can not use them.

Thanks, ***** *****
