Somehow your camera is convinced that a cable is attached, even when there is no cable attached, and therefore (since a cable being attached is a signal to go into communication mode with a computer) stays in the communication-with-a-computer mode.
First try turning Off the camera. Take a clean dry brush, for instance a used but *clean* toothbrush, and brush into the USB jack on the camera, thoroughly, in case somehow the USB jack being dirty has fooled the camera.
Then try removing the batteries, and leaving the camera on a (dry, non-humid, non-dusty) shelf for overnight. After that interval, put the batteries back in and try the camera again.
