Hi Richard,
I don't think I have posted my question yet and I was charged already. Here is my first question and I hope I don't get charged again for this original question. My canon powershot G12 camera has vertical white lines displayed on LCD. I believe this started after the battery died. Can you help recover the LCD screen to proper function

This problem may be hardware related - you will need to open the camera and check if the display ribbon cable is still securely connected. If it is, then the firmware on the camera may have become corrupted - the camera will need to be returned to a Canon service center to have the firmware reinstalled.

No it is not expected and may just be an unfortunate coincidence.

The camera can be opened using a jeweller's screwdriver to remove the screws and then use a flat blade to prise the camera's body apart.
