unfortunately this is known defect. It happened on some of these, they had a part that is failing way prematurely.
Its unfortunate but they really had no way the component was defective because it worked from the beginning,we call these parts the "walking dead". its problem in micro electronics. They will work for a while but fail for no reason other than i specific type of failure.
This one is fully covered anyway because your camera is so new.
Please contact them using either the warranty card info or the info in your user manual(guide).
It is the best way to get this taken care of quickly. Or some stores will exchange this anyway, Walmart will I know that.
If you can locate cannon's warranty dept please let me know.
In any case, I will stick with you until this is complete.
