Customer Question

One month ago, my family gave me an Olympus Stylus TG860 camera. I was thrilled and excited to have a new one after owning one for several years. Unfortunately, the camera got wet with pool water with the case not being locked properly. I am devastated. Is there any saving it???

You should never use heat on it via the blow dryer as this can cause components to crack.
The only real chance you have is to use Rice as this is the most effective way to have all moisture sucked out and if nothing has shorted or cracked it would then work again.
So get a bag of rice and immerse the camera in it and leave this for 2 days so all moisture is taken out.
then try to turn on the camera and if it is ok, it will then start, but this is the only chance you will have to get it working again.
If you have any problems, or would like any additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Else if you can take a second to rate my service by clicking one of the stars at the top of the screen then submit, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Thank you, Richard. I only had the blow dryer on it for less than a minute on cool. I just now put the camera in a bag of rice. I am close to calling Olympus directly. I am heartsick over this, especially since the camera is only a month old. Never did this with the other one!!

Ok, Olympus would allow you to send it in for repairs and they would replace the mainboard, but in my experience, this is a bad idea as then you only get a limited warranty on the repair, plus the costs is close to purchase a repair camera.
I would advise to wait the 2 days and if it still does not work, then to purchase a replacement camera.
