Customer Question

just purchased a canon 70D. The only way it will focus is if I hold down the AF button at the top and then depress the shutter button. Won't focus just by pressing down shutter button half way, nor beep, nor show the 19 point grid.

Hi, thank you for contacting My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.

I advise you to put it into Auto Mode. That should produce the auto-focus that you desire.

If it does not, then something is wrong with it if it will not focus in Auto Mode (which automatically adjusts exposure, focus, and some other values for a fairly good picture every time without effort)... then it is defective. And it should be promptly returned to the store or vendor as such. For either an exchange for another, working, camera, or else for a full refund.
