Turn the printer Off.
Leave it Off for some time - unplug it from the power too.
Then close the door completely - unless something is blocking it.
Leave the printer Off for a while longer, then plug it in, turn it On, and see if that cures the problem.
If it does not solve the problem, then consider whether the printer is less than a year old, measured from its purchase date. If so, your printer's failure is covered by warranty - probably - and you should contact Canon (in the USA) at 1-800-OK-CANON and put in a failed-within-warranty claim on the printer, if possible.
