Trying to make the flash...
Trying to make the flash work on my new Lumix FZ1000. No matter what I do the flash option is greyed out in the menu.
What can I do to fix this? Love the camera other than this issue.

I am currently moble with no phone access. Set the camera to Mechanical Shutter Page 45 of your manual. In electronic shutter all flash settings are automatic.

I have it set for electronic shutter at this moment ..... but if the flash settings are supposed to be automatic why does it never flash at all? Just wondering.

Have your shots been bad, when taken with the flash up, but it did not fire or did the camera compensate with increased sensitivity?

When in Manual mode the shots were too dark if the ISO setting was not sufficient for enough light to reach the sensor, as you would expect. Now I discover that when I try to reset the shutter to mechanical ... that setting is greyed out too. WTF??

How do I just reset the camera to factory settings? I need to start over with this damn thing.

Go to the menu and scroll down to Reset (not No. Reset). This selection will initialize the unit (page 54 of the Advanced manual). If you do not have it, you can download it at the link below. ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/camera/dmcfz1000/dmc-fz1000_en_advanced_om.pdf

I have to laugh .... have reset everything and now all menus are automatically IN SPANISH!

That's not right....sounds like a firmware issue. Are you able to change the language?

Yes, changed it. Flash is working now ... going to play with it more and see if I can get my other settings back the way they were. Thanks for your help.
