Customer Question

I have a Canon AE-1 Program. I've gotten good service over the years but all of a sudden I cannot (1)advance the film (2) nor can I press the shutter button. Both seemed to be locked. I am baffled. Camera has a new battery. Please advise.

Hello. My name is***** can help you with your question. I'm sorry you're having trouble with your Canon camera. The problem you are experiencing is not unusual of cameras of this age. It's a result of dried lubricants. It's nothing more than normal maintenance to remove and replace these lubricants adjust the mechanisms and replace the foam light seals. To do that I would generally recommend having it done by a professional camera shop. There are some online shops like They do this type of work for about $125 and it comes with a six month warranty. However, my preference would be to deal with a local camera shop if you have one. It may even be less expensive. But there's also great deal of value in meeting the people face-to-face and being able to ask questions about the warrantee on the repair and things like that. Please let me know if you still have questions.
