I have an brand new...
I have an brand new Olympus Pen Lite E-PL5. Everytime I take a picture, the camera turns off. I have to do this on/off thing about five times before it finally actually takes a picture. Then it's okay for the duration of the use. But everytime the camera is not in use and then turned on, it shuts off when I take a picture.
I even ordered a new battery in case the one it came with was corrupted. But when it came in the mail the other day and I charged it, it didn't make a difference. Same problem of the camera shutting off.

A problem with the lens mechanism can cause this - the camera will shut down if an obstruction is detected.
It only take a fine particle like a grain of salt in the lens mechanism to cause this problem.
If cleaning around the lens area did not help, then it will need to be cleaned professionally - since the camera is new, you should return it for a warranty repair.
