My camera Nikon d80 keeps getting error msg r11. I can't even

Customer Question

My camera Nikon d80 keeps getting error msg r11. I can't even turn on the lcd screen in the back, nor will any other buttons work. I tried reseting the factory settings, but that does not work either. I tried different lenses, but nothing. Can you advise?

Hello there and welcome to Just Answer. My name is ***** ***** I will be assisting you today. R11 is not an error. it is the capacity of the image buffer.

What did you do to reset factory settings?

Please let me know so that we can continue.

First I tried pressing the 2 bottons with the little green dot, but that didn't work, so I stuck a pin in the tiny little button were all the cable plug ins go, under the rubber flap. All that did was display a blinking clock msg on the top display panel, but still nothing. Thanks

Ok. So when you turn the camera on, what if any signs of life are evident?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

The display panel at the top near the power switch works. I can see the r11 error msg. Sometimes if I try to press the play button or menu button a green light on the back of my camera turns on momentarily, but that is all. Mind you, this all just started happening out of the blue. It was perfectly fine before this. I have not done anything different to my camera, nor did I store it in an unusual manner. Thanks

Do you have a second battery? Are you sure the charger is charging the battery you do have?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Yes, the charger is brand new. I just bought it. Do you think it is an issue with the battery?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I will let it charge fully and try turning it on again. It should work because the charger is brand spanking new.

Expert:  Steve G. replied 2 years ago.
Ok, let me know when you have done that. Your battery may be shot though. A second one would help.
