Customer Question

My SX700HS loses the date stamp when using digital zoom. Of course, I can choose not to use digital zoom but it is convenient some times.

Hi there,
The digital zoom enlarges or shrinks the image using a software process so unfortunately it is not possible to avoid cutting off the digital time stamp when using the digital zoom feature.

That analysis makes sense however, where the date stamp should be there is a grey patch in the image.

Could you attach an example so I may see?

See attached photo.

Ok, that is interesting - it looks like a glitch in the camera's software, where it places a grey placeholder for the date stamp, however the date stamp cannot be inserted.

Is there a firmware upgrade available?
Expert:  Pete replied 2 years ago.
No, I just checked and there is currently no firmware update available for this camera.

Any more comments about the sampe image? Does it offer any more clues to the cause?
Expert:  Pete replied 2 years ago.
No, it shouldn't be there so it seems that the camera is expecting a date stamp and creates the grey placeholder, but no date stamp is available to be imprinted there.
