I have a Canon 5D Mark II and cannot get it to format my card.

Resolved Question:

I have a Canon 5D Mark II and cannot get it to format my card. The camera is less than a year old. The card was working fine. I even bought a new card and same thing--won't format. The card works fine on my 30 D, though I had never put the 5D card in the 30 D until it wouldn't work in the 5D. Both cards are high level Sandisc cards.

Hi. My name is XXXXX XXXXX I'll try to help you with your question today.

The first thing to check are the pins inside the card reader. These have a tendency to bend and break on all DSLR's that use a CF type card. Using a flashlight, carefully check for this and let me know what you find.

THANKS RICK--I SEE WHAT LOOKS LIKE A BENT OR BROKEN PIN. GUESS I'LL HAVE TO SEND IT BACK TO CANON TO GET IT FIXED.

You may want to check to see if there is a local repair shop that can repair the camera for you. The price is usually better and the turn around time is quicker. Below is a link to a directory of repair shops, one of which should be able to help you.
