Your Camera offers a 'delete all' function rather than 'format'. You can find the information on page 38 of your manual.

Set your mode dial to mode, which is the right arrow.
Turn your camera on.
Press the Menu button until you see the Menu Screen.
Press the up or down button until you are on 'delete all ' and select.
Then select Delete All Images.
Select yes and click the set button.
