My Canon ZR800 video camera displays a flashing red symbol

Customer Question

My Canon ZR800 video camera displays a flashing red symbol in the lower left quadrient. It looks like a red tube with a diagonal line through it with a right pointing arrow above it. It displays on the screen in both record and playback modes. The camera seems to be functioning fine as far as I can tell.

This symbol is indicating that the battery is low or needs to be recharged.

You will find information on this at page 47 of the instruction manual.

I would suspect that there is a failure in the internal battery level detect circuit.

It would require service by a trained camera technician.

I would contact Canon to find a Service Center near you.

Actually it turned out that the symbol indicated that the button battery that powers the clock was weak. I replaced it with a new battery and the symbol is no longer there.
