A mystery. 10 yr old quarter horse gelding. Had teeth done
10 yr old quarter horse gelding. Had teeth done on Wednesday but reacted to tranq. as he had a fever of 105 that we had no idea about. Blood drawn and general screening showed elevated wht blood cell count. Started on 35cc of penicillin (injection) in evenings. Has had 3 days of penicillin. Temp usually down in mornings and back up in evenings but...this morning temp was 104.3. His legs were all blown up (from fever I'm assuming) and we noticed when we turned him out that his bum and hip muscles were hard as rocks (injections have been in neck only). He is eating and drinking not too bad (not eating like usual but still eating). The biggest difference we see in him is that he's really sucky. He is very kind but not sucky.
