Customer: I think he is under weight

Hi this is Dr. Michelle. I will see if I can help. The best way to check for body condition in a bird is to feel his chest. There is a bone in the middle of the breast (the keel) and that should be easily felt, but the muscle on each side of it should be about the same height as the bone is. Your cockatoo should be eating a large variety of food, and not just seed, as it is not nutritionally complete. I hope this helps.
