Please give me 5-10 minutes to type your answer. Thank you.
I am sorry that you are having this problem with your dog away from a vet. The symptoms that you are describing certainly could be secondary to an insect bite. Or, he could be stressed from hearing the fireworks. Start him on Dramamine 25mg 5 tablets every 8 hours; this will help in case his symptoms are related to a histamine reaction from an insect bite. I would look among friends or neighbors for aspirin you can give him Aspirin 325mg every 12 hours (preferably buffered aspirin), this will help with inflammation and pain. Do Not give ibuprofen or any other type of over the counter pain killers. If you go to a human hospital perhaps they can give you Benadryl (diphenhydramine) 25mg give him 5 tablets every 12 hours, it will be better than Dramamine because he has a sedative effect as well. And, I am certain they will have Aspirin. Follow up with your family veterinarian.
