My Cocker is neutered but when he sits, his penis always seems

This answer was rated:

My Cocker is neutered but when he sits, his penis always seems to come out a bit. Not nice to look at! Is there a way to stop this or does it indicate a bigger issue? He's very healthy, eats and drinks well, full of energy but this is getting annoying. Please advise. Thanks
Welcome! My name isXXXXX am a 2003 graduate from UC Davis, and currently a Medical Director of a veterinary hospital.

I am sorry to hear about this concern for Magoo.

Well, I hate to say it, but that can be quite normal to occur.

If he has not been castrated, that can exacerbate the problem some. So, if not neutered, that would be your first step to try and help remedy the problem.

Also, keep an eye out for any changes in urination habits. If peeing more frequently or straining to urinate, a urinary tract infection could be suspect as well.

I hope that information has been helpful.

As stated, he is neutered. Seems to come out frequently when he sits in upright position

Hi Bill.
Yep, not surprised. It would be worth having the penis and the prepuce (the sheath that holds the penis) examined just to ensure there is no inflammatory change which could be causing it to "pop" more. sometimes, an infection of the prepuce itself can cause this to occur.

Worth the exam just to be sure.

Hope that additional information helps. Definitely, reply to me if there is any other way I may assist you. I hope my responses have been satisfactory.
