Is there a cytology test and a microscopic hematuria test? I thank you for all your time and answers. Your responses are really helping my anxiety.
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
I left out "difference" in the question.

yes a microscopic tells you the number of red blood cells and probably initiated your workup, cytology is technically looking for cancer cells

Ask Your Own Urology Question

ccytology is only about 35% accurate so no great test

Ask Your Own Urology Question

did you have a bladder tumor or just an suspicious cytology at some point

Ask Your Own Urology Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
I had microscopic blood in urine at gyn. about 2.5 years ago. She ordered a urine culture and microscopic hematuria test. The urine culture was neg., but hematuria test was positive. She sent me to a urologist. I had a hematuria CT scan and a scope of my bladder which were negative for cancer. I just want to be reassured the my current cytology report does not mean I have to see a nephrologist. I thank you deeply for answering my questions.

no you are good just watch that sodium intake
