I'm a healthy 62 year old woman who just noticed small amount of blood in urine what might that mean?
JA: In general, how has your health been lately?
Customer: good but ive been taking a lot of vitamin b & b12 due to low counts
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?

  • There are so many potential reasons why you see blood in urine. The top of the list includes urine infection, kidney stones or simply just being on blood thinners.
  • If your blood counts are low, and that include low blood platelets, then your blood is likely to be thin and you are predisposed to bleed in the urine
  • If you are still having blood in the urine and you have other symptoms, then you need to go the ER. If it is subsiding and you have no other related symptoms, then you need to check with your family doctor. You will need basic tests that would include urine analysis, blood counts and xray of the abdomen to start with
