How did this problem present? Have you had bloody looking urine or tea colored urine or finding of microscopic hematuria on urinalysis?

There are several possible causes of hematuria ....

Kidney stones are common cause ...

Do you have any pain?

If bloody appearing urine but no pain then concern would be increased for bladder cancer as possible culprit ...

Tea colored urine is more of a sign of kidney level bleeding...

Urinary tract infections can lead to bleeding ... hemorrhagic cystitis may be a cause..

Cancers can be a possible concern( bladder cancer or renal cell carcinoma are the more common potential worries in that category)

Kidney stones are a common cause ( any past history of kidney stones?)

Seeing a urologist is needed to help work up this problem..
