24hr ago had hernia surgery, protruding a lot beside genitals. I see expected swelling
around incision and sack containing testicles. Short time ago I noted penis was puffed
up. Is this in the normal realms of recovery???
Thank you, *****

Do you have pain or fever?

Any discharge from the incision?

Are you on antibiotics ?

Any puffiness in the face or legs?

Are you passing enough urine ?

Please let me know

Customer: replied 4 years ago.

No fever, less pain than yesterday, no discharge, not on antibiotics,

no puffiness, passing plenty of urine.

Thanks, Jim

HI Jim,

It is normal to have some swelling in the penis, because there is some breach of planes when a big hernia such as yours is operated. This will come down with some time.

But if you ever develop pain, fever or discharge go to ER immediately.

While lying down keep the foot end of the bed a little elevated on a block. This will help the swelling settle faster. Wear a good scrotal support.
