I think it would definitely be worth it to see a urologist to rule you out for interstitial cystitis. They may need to do a test called cystoscopy where they look inside the bladder to see if you may have some ulcers consistent with this condition. They might need to take some biopsies if they see these ulcers. I think this would be a good idea to see if this is the cause for your current pain. IC definitely causes pelvic pain and is a hallmark of the disease. It is not a genetic condition. It is typically initiated by a severe insult to the bladder, and this is typically due to repeated UTI. however, some people can develop it for no reason at all. It is not typically due to trauma to the bladder.
