There is no requirement for an UK company's directors or shareholders to be British Citizens or even resident in the UK at all. Only the registered office needs to be in the country in which the company is registered. I do hope that you find my reply of assistance.
I am very sorry, but I cannot advise you on French taxation other than in very general terms. French taxation is so complex and so constantly changing that the employment of a local practitioner is essential. If he proposes to work in France yet bill through an UK company I can foresee horrendous complications. Remember France has five times as many tax inspectors per head of population than does the UK. Were he billing from the UK through his company then, if customers were in the EU and their VAT or equivalent registration number known, the reverse charge would apply where VAT is charged as an output and immediately reclaimed as an input thus effectively making the transaction zero rated. Such transactions would have to be reported on a separate EU Sales List to HMRC. Please be so kind as to rate me before you leave the just Answer site.
