The job in Singapore, when will it begin, how long is the employment contract for, and what visits (approx) you think you might make from the time you leave the UK, and this employment contract ceases.

Then you are not treated as having left the UK merely working out of it, and yes you can then claim the tax suffered as a deduction from the tax UK state is due on this income.
However it could be exploring the possibility of whether you qualify for Sea Farers deduction - due to the fact that this is an oil rig and nor in UK shores - see link here

This being the case, although you have to keep strict records to ensure that you do not exceed the days in and days out remit, then you may be able to work this to your advantage and be free of UK tax.
