You could approach the temp agencies you worked for and ask them to confirm your earnings and tax while you worked for them. If you can't remember who they are then you can only write to the tax office to ask them to review your tax position for the year 2008/09 in the hope that the temp agencies have reported your earnings to the tax office.
You are entitled to a P60 by law and should ask your employer for one or at least a letter confirming your earnings and tax.
