I have both and more!

BR code operated on my PAYE for years - I had no idea but is on payslip. New employment started Dec 03, I have a P2X(T) PAYE IR coding notice issuing BR code 19.1.4. My payslips operated BR code too till 2006. In 2006, when new tax code issued 623L, I queried immediately asking IR for their advice. IR reported no BR code had been issued by them. I was confused, had taken IR advice and this is documented and acknowledged by them. I then proved to them with their form p2x form, they had issued this. On complaint to them, they identified they saw the error in 2002 (and did not act), then again in 2005 (and did not act). I in good faith, did not know, but how to prove reasonable belief test?

What is the best way of taking this forward asap?

I need to find a good accountant who can sort out my affairs and give as good advice as you have done.

I've looked online, and found lots of tax accountants around Sheffield where I'm based but they may not all give the same good advice.

Of course recommendation is grand if someone I know has been in the same position but....

How do I find someone who can provide the most robust case? Should I get someone local to Sheffield, or send off to someone nationally who may be more used to dealing with this specific sort of problem.

Can you recommend me someone or send me off to find where I might find a recommendation.
