Rick, My mother has the old potterton Kingfisher 2 stand up

Customer Question

Hi Rick, My mother has the old potterton Kingfisher 2 stand up boiler. It has been a great servant and gets serviced regularly. Just recently, it has made what I can only describe as a roaring sound, similar to that of a high powered jet of flame, if that makes sense ? Any ideas ? our local engineer could not find a fault and sods law it did not happen when he visited. Cheers, Ken

If this happens when the boiler gets hot it could be kettleing where scale has built up on the inside of the heat exchanger and can make horrendous noises
