Customer Question

we have an older system with back boiler. The system is controlled by a Drayton 7 controller. The issue we have is recently we are having hot water but no heating and very occasionally the other way around. If the heating is on eventually the boiler might fire up and the heating comes on. I know there is a motorised valve on the system. Could this be the issue? Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

Does the motorised valve have 2 or 3 pipes?

Do you have a room stat and a cylinder stat?

Hello AndrewThanks very much for your reply. From memory the valve has three pipes, i think it is this one: is under the floor in the bathroom and i will take the floor up tomorrow to access it to check.Yes there is a room stat in the hall and a stat on the hot water cylinder. The wiring is in a box in the airing cupboard. The control system was bought as a kit including all the above and the controller maybe 10 years or more ago.Turning the water on fires up the boiler and heats the water. Turning the heating on does nothing except light up the controller to tell us it is on. Sometimes but not always after an hour or more the boiler may fire up and the heating works. Thanks again for your reply.
