Hi I have a Vokera...

Hi I have a Vokera syntesi 35 combi boiler which is about 9 years old
The hot water will sometimes not fire at all and other times it will do a lot of clicking on the circuit boards for a minute or so. Either eway the red lght comes on and the 01 code is displayed. Tuning the central switch to off and then back on resets it and then it mostly fires up ok. we now have to shout down stairs most evenings for the boiler to be reset.
Had two plumbers out a number of times to try and fix it. So far had the thermister, and both PCB's replaced along with the flue adjusted as well as some other things I can't remember.
Are we throwing good money after bad? Or is there some other part that could be causing the problem.

There is a whiring noise which I assume would be the fan. After putting in the new main PCB, every time the hot water is turned on there is a lot of clicking from the PCB and then occasionally it will eventually fire up and other times it will flash up the 01 fault.

Have you stripped and cleaned the ignition electrodes, it sounds like it is failing to light

Not sure if the other plumbers had done this so I will have a look and clean them.

have opened up the boiler to expose the ignition electrode of which there only seems to be one at the front of the burner. It looks quite clean but i'll scothbrite the end.

Ok, is there another smaller one too?
Also take off the ignition lead both ends and clean the connectors
