I have a glow worm...

I have a glow worm Ultimate boiler that is approx 14 years old. For some reason our heating wont come on unless the programmer is asking for hot water. Motorised valve has been replaced in January. The boiler has gone right through the summer heating the water with no problems. But it wont heat the radiators. I'm going to replace the programmer and get a wireless thermosta(only have TRV's at the moment). I need a recommendation for a good quality programmer and wireless thermostat that will work with Glowworm Ultimate and a pressurised Megaflo system that is reasonably simple to install?

Only get a wireless room thermostat if you have to. I have dealt with MANY questions and faults on this site with reference to wireless room stats.
Can you not run a wire to your airing cupboard and use a programmable room thermostat for ultimate control?

Hi Andrew

Because of the layout I cant really get a wire to the airing cupboard.I've also just decorated so I dont really want any extra wiring. Does the C/H thermostat need to connect to in the airing cupboard? Boiler and programmer are in the garage?

It will need wiring into the central heating circuit, so you can wire it into the programmer and just interrupt the circuit. Does the garage back onto the house so you can just go through the wall?

The garage is integral to the house. The house is a converted stable(L shaped long and narrow. The boiler and programmer are about 7ft apart in the garage at one end of the house. The airing cupboard is in the middle of the house on the first floor. There is a electrician that lives in the villlage, speaking to him I sensed that he doesnt have much experience with Programmers and thermostats. Thats why I want to get something reasonably simple to fit. Do I need a specific type of programmer to be compatible with a Glow Worm Ultimate? Can you recommend a Programmer/wireless thermostat combination?

Does the garage wall not back onto anything useful like the hallway?

You do not need a specific programmer as long as it is a 5day/2day programmer.
The room stat you may as well buy something cheap as you will have to replace it in about 4 years.

The Garage is adjacent to the kitchen, which I would guess is one of the worst rooms to locate a thermostat.

This is the pairing I've looked at. Any idea whether this is pretty straight forward to fit?

I sense from your "advice" that you are not a fan of wireless products and therefore are not best placed to advise on which ones to use.

If this is indeed the case, should you not have just left the question for someone that has worked with other types and therefore could give some specific advice on models other than "Not too bad, they are all pretty similar now".
