I have a Baxi Solo 3 PFL (seven years old) Problem is I

Hard to give an answer quickly as I am a disabled user not an engineer, although I have some understanding as I was an Air Conditionig engineer. I will have to get someone to obtain the info you require.

As the thermostat has been changed already i dont believe that this is where the fault is. I believe that as the fault started on the day the gas pressure was altered that this may be the cause of the problem. As i have said before i'm unsure whether this pressure was turned up or down as the only feedback i recieved from the BG engineer was that it had now been set as per manufactures installation guide lines of 16".

My question is whether or not this gas pressure alteration could have the consequence of causing the boiler to cycle?

sorry for delay but i have another question to ask. I had another visit from a BG engineer and questioned him regarding the gas pressure. His answer was that he had found the pressure at 8mb and adjusted it to 16mb as per manufacturer's guide lines. I asked him if he did this because there was a problem with the boiler or because it was not the correct setting. He replied because it was not the correct setting.

My question is could this have anything to do with my boiler cycling?

Ive taken the readings and they are as follows - the last three digits are the red ones on the gas meter.

02198113, then timed for two mins 02198166 = 53

I have also taken note of the units used and quite surprised at the amount of gas i have been using i.e March - June 2010 = 60 units, March - June 2011= 105 units, March - June 2012 (13/5) = 276

Ok, thanks for your assistance. I feel I now have enough info to get BG to look at my boiler again as I pay for a monthly service contract. I do not quote names, only info. I beleived the adjusting of the gas pressure was the problem as the boiler only started cycling from that day, but they would not beleive me.

I am satisfied with your responses and am happy to pay you now as it may take a while to get BG to take action whislt they insist there is no fault.

I will inform you if/when there is a satisfactory conclusion.

I hve to apologise as i gave you incorrect information regarding the boiler, the model i have is a Baxi Solo 3 PFL 50, 62,500 btu 18.32kw. I am unsure how much of a difference this will make, however i do know it is consuming triple the amount of gas.

I ask if this size boiler would not be experiencing some type of fault opperating with a gas supply pressure of 8mb.

BG are still refusing to look at my boiler as they say the engineer adjusted the gas pressure to 16mb correctly and the Baxi engineer says its working fine.

So you can see my problem is what should be done next. I would be grateful for any help you are able to provide.
