When I switch my central...

When I switch my central heating off, the burner goes off as expected but I think I have a timer problem. The noise (when the boiler is on) remain for hours and over the last few months seems to come on of it's own free will. I had a boiler expert out who said my burner was fine but was unsure what could be going wrong. I have a Sunvic timer

Hi my name is XXXXX XXXXX lets see if we can get you sorted in the shortest possible time. There are a couple of things that can make your boiler fire up even when off on the timer (you have to make sure it is off for sure). One is the frost stat (if you have one) and the other is the motorised valve in the airing cupboard (can you check this to see how slack the lever is on the side of it?)

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for responding.

Knowing absolutely nothing about central heating, I had to google frost stat and motorised valves. I seem to have something similar to a 2 channel Sunvic CB2202 clock, a Satchwell Sunvic Room Thermostat 16 Amp On Off in my hallway and two Sunvic 22mm 2 Two port motorised zone valves in my airing cupboard. Please don't take that as gospel. The outer white casings of both seem to be a little loose but the base seems fairly securely attached. There is a flat L-shaped lever at the base of both which again seems fairly secure and unmoveable. When the boiler has fired up even in the middle of the night, I have checked to ensure that the clock is off. I even went outside to the Relio burner to confirm that it hadn't fired up. It sounds like you have a problem with one of your motorised valves. You will probably need an electrician rather than a heating engineer to sort this out as he will be able to trace the power back from the boiler to one specific valve.
