VerifiedHi I am Rick, UK Plumber, and I specialize on Boiler problems, looks like the diaphragm in the expansion vessel has failed so it is no longer an expansion vessel, it will need to be replaced if this is the case, you can test it maybe by pressing the schraeder valve (same as a car tyre) if no air comes out it could just need pumping up with a pump, if water comes out then it has definitely failed but even if it has failed water may not come out as the rubber inside very often seals the schraeder valve hole, Rick
no it cannot be repaired, there are many styles of thermal store, if it is only connected to your boiler and the heating system then you can try an internal leak sealer, but if you run your mains through it for hot water the you cannot risk a leak sealer as it could contaminate your domestic water, Rick
