Question

We have a Digistat+RF which is about two years old.
All the appropriate signals seem to be working, the boiler timer is switched to
'on', the small flame is showing and the room thermostat is showing a
temperature which ought to be calling for heating. But there is no heat coming
through.
If we want a room temperature of 20 degrees, roughly what should I set the
Pr/Hi/Lo settings to?
Should the Hi setting be above or below the Pr setting, and, similarly, should
the Lo setting be below or above the Pr setting?

manual for the Digistat, if not which model is it RF+ RF+2 or +3? If it is just

I have a 4 sides of A4 leaflet 'User Guide' for the Digistat+RF, which tells me
how to change the settings. I have adjusted to Pr, Hi and Lo settings, but don't
seem to be getting any different response.

Have you checked the SCR to see if the red LED is flashes (7 seconds app every 5
mins) to see if the signal is being received from RF unit

I'll check that. I, obviously, may be five minutes or more!

Also when the stat is resting it will only show current room temp, for adjusting
this you just turn the dial to required temp without doing anything else.

Customer:

The red light does flash.

Customer:

I tried changing the room temperature. It was at 14.5, then went to 18, but went
straight back to 14.5. If I get it to 18, should I then press 'set'?

No it will go back to 14.5 as this is the current room temperature. The display
will only change from this when the room heats up or cools down.

Customer:

There's no heat coming through.

Customer:

I didn't mean to press 'reply' then!

if you change to 18 as stated does a flame symbol appear on the display?

Customer:

The flame symbol has been there all along. There's no battery symbol visible,
but I think that it only comes up if the battery is low. I'm not at all
technical, so I suspect that we are reaching the end of what I'll be able to do
(I really only wanted reassurance that I've probably tried most things before I
call someone out). Would you look at my original question about what
temperatures you'd suggest for Pr/Hi/Lo? I'll do that as a last resort before
calling someone out. I feel that I've adjusted them so much that I'm not sure
what they were at originally.

The hot water has worked all along, yes it is a combi. It's a Vailent ecoTEC
plus.

Press and hold the 'Set' button for 5-6 seconds the display should show Pr
rotate the dial till you get to HI, then press the set button again to see the
temp it is set to, "MAX 30" press set to confirm then the display will show HI
again.

Customer:

It was set at 22 (I did that yesterday, we've had the problem for several days),
so I've now put it to 30, which I think it was at when we first had the problem.
I think Lo was at 5 originally. Should I put it back to that? What about Pr?

That sounds about right, if you look at the display is the word 'SET' displayed

Customer:

I've re-set 'Lo' to 5. The word 'set' hasn't shown on the display at all. What
about 'Pr'? Is that the temperature we would like the rooms to be at?

The Pr is a set temp that you would like to keep the temp at if you were going
out for the day but did not want to leave the house at full temperature, if you
press the set button this will put it into PR mode. when you press the set
button the 'SET' will flash and you can set the stat up/down to the desired temp
(about 15-20) then the 'SET will stop flashing and be on the display constantly.

yes if set is pressed it will flash for 5 seconds giving you the chance to set
the temp, then it will stay displayed. This is now in Pr mode.

Customer:

I've set the Pr temperature to 20, but when I pressed set, Pr came up, I pressed
'set' again and the temperature came up rather than the word 'set'. The word
hasn't come onto the display at all. I went up to the Digistat SCR and pressed
the override button earlier on and the red light came on. It didn't seem to have
any impact though.

The Pr is set ok if you press 'set' and leave it then this will activate Pr mode
and 'set' should stay on the display. if you press 'set again it will take it
out of Pr mode and return the display to the temp and the word 'set should not
be there. have you checked the boiler to see if it is not in timer mode and the
stat is fully up on the boiler?

Customer:

The boiler seems to be working fine, the timings are the same as the water, and
the water comes on and goes off as it should.

Customer:

I think I'll need to contact an engineer to come out, I think that we've covered
all the things I can deal with. I'm happy with your support. Thanks.
