I don't know. What can I do to check?
Chamberlain Maintenance : Do you notice the noise when the toilet is flushed or bathroom taps are run on the cold?
Customer:
just ran the cold and flushed the toilet. no noise.
Chamberlain Maintenance : By the sounds of your description you still get the noise even though the hot is turned off. You require a new float valve in your header tank. It will be the larger one out of the two.
Customer:
do you know what is causing the noise? its quite distinctive. its not a hammer. its a long constant tone rising in pitch just before the noise stops. it for anywhere between 5 and 30s
Chamberlain Maintenance : It will be the float/ball valve clogged up with lime, the water pressure when the float opens can not get through properly and causes the plunger not to seat properly which in turn causes the vibration when you run off the water the tank fills up slowly because it is not operating correctly, this is why the noise occurs some time after.
