An Xtrail 06 with a very noisy blower motor..bump..housing..removing

Customer Question

Hi, I have an Xtrail 06 with a very noisy blower motor. It does not make the noise all the time, only if I go over a bump or believe it or not, turn a sharp corner! I have got to the motor housing and to the point of removing the in cabin air filter, but I am not sure what screws to take out and clips to undo to get at the actual motor. I would like to see if a drop of oil will solve the problem, if not I will buy another motor and install it. If there is a drawing or picture showing me how to get at it or whatever, it would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Joel, The problem I need help with is the removal of the BLOWER MOTOR. I have done all the steps already and have removed the in cabin filter, that is far as I have got. I need drawings or schematics on what screws and clips to undo to get the actual blower motor housing apart to get at the motor.Your pictures are great though.

sorry mate i have never done that job.i would think its a sealed unit. i would think that you would be able to give it a spray from the bottom of the filter housing.and get the motor from there ..but i will opt out incase any one else has any info on the subject

Thanks Joel for your efforts. I called a Nissan dealer to ask how much a new blower motor would cost me. I almost had a heart attack when he said the motor unit itself without installation was $550.00 US!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It gave me the incentive to go ahead and try and remove it myself. It is semi sealed but I managed to remove the lower casing enough to get the squirrell cage off. I put a few drops of oil on the fan shaft and it seemed to loosen it up and put it all back together again. Works like new!! No more noise or vibration. So, if anyone else wants to know how to remove the blower motor, send them my way. Thanks again.
