Hi.Last Sunday, when I finished the work, I went to the pub to have some beers. I met there two British guys (I am Spanish and I am always looking for meet new people to improve my English level). We had a nice time, drinking and speaking. When the pub got closed, they guys said to me if I would like to continue with them in their house.We went to a petrol station. The deal was that I had to buy the cigarettes and they had to buy more beer. As well as we entered into the petrol station, I bought the cigarettes and paid them with my debit card. Meanwhile the two guys tried to steal a pack of beers. The shopkeeper saw them and in this moment I said to him "I pay for the beers, I don't want problems". The shopkeeper refused to be paid and said that he would call the police.The two guys insisted to pay him and in that moment I decided to do nothing, just ignore everything (I was a bit drunk and I was freaking out with the situation). After all, we leave the shop and the shopkeeper was phoning the police. In that moment I didn't know if they finally paid the beers or not (now I think they didn't pay because if the man was calling the police)... They left the shop with te beers.In that moment I was really afraid (the situation, the police coming, also that they showed me that they are dangerous people... so I was afraid because if I stayed in the shop of if I escaped by my own the guys could pursuit me and make me some damage). So I escaped with them by bike.I didn't realise that they were stealing/shoplifting. In fact, I paid with my debit card (if I pay with my debit card is obvious that I am not going to steal, it is stupid). There are CCTV in the petrol station and they can prove that but... the CCTV can also prove that I escape with them (we didn't run away, we just took the bikes and went away). I don't know if I am an accomplice or a witness...On the other hand, my situation in the UK is complicated. I am an au pair (so I live with a British family) as well as a I work in McDonald's some weekends. I have not a lot of money and a I have not estability. I am afraid if the police come to my house the family will fire me and a I'll have to live as a homeless as the court date if I receive a letter of the police come home.

I would like to know:- Will the police look for me? Will I be prosecuted as a shoplifter?
- In that case, how long will be take in arrive to me? They have the CCTV footages, but they also have the payment for the tobacco with my debit card
- In these situations, is pursuit all the group or just the people who steals?
- What will happen to me in the future? If I will prosecuted or not. If I am prosecuted, if I am going to the court. What punishment could I receive? With the information I've given to you and the footages, could I declared innocent?
- Is the police following seriously these kind of crimes in the UK? (shoplifting, no more than 20 pound value, but people escape with the stolen stuff)I also have made a bit investigation and in UK there is "the significance of the presence". So if I saw the crime but I didn't do anything but I didn't colaborate, I am not guilty. However, I escaped with them because I was really afraid...Thank you in advance. This is all of my worries, if something happens with this situation, if I will ruin my life and my future as a teacher (in UK and in Spain).I take care of a kid into a British family (au pair).
