Customer Question

I was caught speeding 41mph in a 30mph zone i received a fixed penalty notice and the cop told me to produce my licence within one week. I told him i had to reapply fir a new on as the other one was lost. He said he would give me an extra week to apply for it but the next week he phoned me and said he was putting me in court fpr the offence instead. I was wondering what my likely punishment from the judge will be im 21 and have been driving 2+ years and have a clean licence
JA: Because laws vary from place to place, can you tell me what state this is in?

JA: What action has been taken so far? What's your ideal outcome?

What was the date of the offence?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Some date at the end of june this year i cant remember exactly

If this is 41 mph in a 30 mph zone then almost certainly this would only lead to 3 points and a fine.

This is just outside of that bracket but not by a substantial amount so almost certainly it would be only three points.

If you tried to accept the fixed penalty and could not then you might be lucky and receive 3 points, a fine of £85 and the surcharge of £15 which would mean you were deal with as though you had the fixed penalty anywya.

Can I clarify anything for you?

Would i not be entitled to a speed awareness course?
Expert:  Jo C. replied 2 months ago.

Nobody is entitled the course.

it is a matter of whether the police offer it.

They have chosen not to here and they are entitled to do that.
