VerifiedOnce redundant, your employer will inform the Home Office. Then Home Office will issue you 60 days letter to find a new employer. This process usually taken 5-6 months.
You can make an outside the rules application once the 60 days period expire. You can leave the United Kingdom however you wife alongwith son can make the application. The basis of the application should be your son's education and request the case-worker for leave to enable your son to complete GCSEs.
I think if you go good changes that the application will be held until July 2018 to enable your son to take the exams.
